CNC Generals: GLA - General
Abilities
Many people find that the GLA Generals
Abilities are not as good as the other factions due to the lack of a direct
damage ability. While this is somewhat of a disadvantage you must also remember
that what GLA lacks in direct damage it makes up for by having the best
infiltration and money gaining abilities. Not only that but the units you can
unlock add greatly to the potential of your army.
Technical Training
I do not recommend getting this ability. Technicals are a support unit and a
weaker one at that so making it stronger will not help you to much in the long
run. Unless you use a lot of these save your point.
Marauder Tanks
Like I said in the mid/late game section these build slower then scorpions and
are only worth the money when you can upgrade them. Mixing a few of these in
your army can add some good firepower after the first couple battles. Do not
build these as a replacement to scorpions but as a compliment. Marauders help
the most against paladins
Scud Launchers
This is one of the better units to unlock for the GLA. The buggy has shorter
range and does little splash damage but goes very fast. The scud launcher is
basically the opposite having slower speeds and greater firepower. With the
tunnel however the slow speed of the scud launcher is not that big of a deal.
Both the buggy and the scud launcher have their advantages where one will
perform much better than the other. Most games however it is a matter of
personal preference. I choose scuds because you do not need as many of them and
they have great splash damage.
Hijacker
In certain situation the hijacker can be useful. In order to use them
effectively you need to place them in the path of the enemy tanks or use a
technical to charge his tanks. Using a technical you might be able to take over
one or two vehicles if that. This makes the hijacker only worth it in my opinion
on maps with choke points so you can easily predict where there tanks are going.
Due to the extra work and micro-management however most people would rather
spend their point on other things which is what I recommend.
Rebel Ambush
As the best infiltration ability in the game this is a must have for any GLA
General. At high levels you can really cause some damage. You can capture or
destroy multiple buildings in your enemies base or support an attack by taking
out enemy infantry or long range weapons as well as taking over multiple
vehicles that Jarmen has sniped. Not only that but you can also kill any enemy
hero as soon as they show themselves. If you also research the Camouflage
upgrade (a must have later in the game) your ability to cause damage increases
dramatically
Cash Bounty
This is a very good ability to have. By being completely passive this requires
absolutely no skill to use whatsoever. With this ability every time you kill
something you get money. This is one of the best abilities in the entire game
since the whole object of the game is to kill your enemies units. Basically even
without this ability the more damage you do to your enemy the better chance you
have for victory. With the ability you also get money with each kill and the
more money you have the better your chance for victory. In short this ability
multiplies your chances for winning considerably and because of this you should
always put at least one point into this ability.
Emergency Repair
Like the other sides I would never recommend getting this. For GLA it is even
more useless because your units have low health anyway and it is so much easier
to use a tunnel or get junk repair than to waste points on this.
Anthrax Bomb
This weapon instantly kills all infantry in quite a large area and also can
quickly destroy tanks who stay in the area. This is a great way to take out
hackers and infantry as well as softening up tanks and forcing them out of the
area in order for them to survive. The initial explosion can also destroy a
barracks or some tanks if they are directly under the bomb. If you get all the
way to five star this is a good investment.
