Without History, there is no future: (Written with oldest parts first, updates are at the end) Back when Red Alert was a big deal, and when I was a novice web designer I decided to have fun with making web-sites. This was at about the summer of 1999. I used Netscape composer to make a rather weak Red Alert Site. It was called: Sam's Gaming Zone. I'm not the most creative with naming things. I had some hosted Red Alert downloads and very little info about the game. When Tiberian Sun came out, I added it to the site and added a lot of information. Well about a year later, I was introduced to FrontPage 2000. This made me realize that I could make my weak pages look somewhat better and more organized. I changed the layout a lot and kept the same name. When Red Alert 2 came out I had added information and downloads to the site. It was then that I changed the site name to CNC-SGZ (CNC-Sam's Gaming Zone) I was then introduced to a RA2Freakz. We worked together, and I thank him a lot for his help, we revised the site and he found someone with good graphic designing skills. The graphical layout you see now was done by Chronosfera. I have modified and messed around with it since he made it, but no real changes have been made. When the new version of the site was done, I changed the name to the CNC Combat Zone. It only consisted of Red Alert 2 and Renegade. All of the Renegade pages were made by RA2Freakz. Generals was added to the site when the staff got first wind of it. The CNC Combat Zone had recently switched from Utopia hosting, which was our web provider until it got sold in late fall of 2002. We have switched to Rockethosts, and we feel very much at home now. They are great, and we hope to remain with them. Since the switch in hosts, I have added a forum and changed the layout a bit to accommodate for the re-addition of Red Alert and Tiberian Sun. Due to the poll that I put up and left up for a long time, I decided to bring back Tiberian Sun and Red Alert. Unfortunately, Tiberium Dawn was never on this site, and it probably never will be. Site Update: 9-20-03 I have redesigned our main logo to reflect the more current C&C games.
Site Update: 5-16-06: Well, the Combat Zone Network never made it to fruition. We worked on it but there wasn't enough passion to merit the need for another gaming network. Instead, I'm going to focus my energy into reviving this site.
Hopefully I haven't bored you to sleep, you chose to read this, Yuri didn't make you. Thanks for reading, - Sam Othman a.k.a. Enetheru
